Welcome to the Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin and St Mary Magdalen, Tetbury

There has been a Christian place of worship on the site of St Marys' since at least 681 AD. The present church was built following the demolition of the medieval church in 1777. The church today, with its elegant spire, is a focal point in the town. St Marys' is open every day for people to come and visit, sit quietly, or attend any of the regular services.

Please use the buttons on the left to have a look around and find out more about the church and the activities that take place here.

Christian Aid - The 100 Mile Walk

Donna Crowther's 50th birthday sponsored walk.

Donna celebrates her 50th birthday in January 2019 and since she's not a party animal, she decided to celebrate this milestone in another way. Donna also likes a challenge! So the challenge and celebration Donna has decided on is to undertake a 100 mile sponsored walk for Christian Aid's work with refugees and displaced people in Iraq & Lebanon. She will be joined by others who will do the whole or part of the 100 miles.

As a working lone parent, Donna has limited timed to participate in her 2 passions of walking and bell-ringing. The walk will represent her personal and spiritual journey over her 50 years as the walk visits churches in the villages in Gloucestershire & Wiltshire which have played some part in her life. Bells will be rung!

Donna and a band of friends will start the walk from Christ Church, Tetbury after a Christian Aid Big Brekkie on Saturday 12 January 2019. The aim is to walk approximately 12 miles each day and finish at St Mary's, Tetbury on Sunday 20 January with a grand tea and service of thanksgiving. Funds raised will go to Christian Aid's Iraq & Lebanon Partnership Project which will be match funded 6:1. Thus the target of £14,286 will turn into £100,000!

Please help us reach our target. You can donate online at The 100 Mile Walk

Come and see our wedding exhibition in Tetbury Church with photos of many lovely couples, stepping out into their married life together framed by the iconic West Door of St Marys’ Church. Our exhibition is in aid of our West Door appeal, raising money to build a simple and elegant new entrance, with an integral ramp. Please come along and enjoy the exhibition – and enjoy the exhibition – and donate towards the building work to be carried out early in 2019. Thank you!
